Mad Men. Season 5.

(If you haven't seen the first episode yet, avert your eyes!!)

I mean you knew I would have to be back to talk about Mad Men, right? Did you watch it? What did you think?! *squeal*

I have read a few bits here and there around the internet lamenting the progression of the show into the later 60's and subsequently, the fashions moving away from the nipped waist, full skirt New Look into shorter skirts, sheath dresses and Mod fashion. Personally, I'm cool. While I am a bigger fan of the 50's/early 60's look, I kinda love where the show is going already. You can't deny the appeal of the mini skirt revolution and the body skimming shifts that show lots of leg. And the prints! So many prints! I think it is important to appreciated each fashion time period for what it was and the cultural context surrounding it. I trust that Janie Brant won't let us down with gorgeous costumes this season! And that Matthew Wiener will take the show is the direction it is supposed to go in. I guess I don't get too caught up with what I *want* to happen with Mad Men, as I do with other shows I watch.

In short, I loved it. Already counting down the days until the next episode!

Snow Week

You may or may not have heard about the crazy unusual snow and ice storms that have been happening in the Pacific Northwest this week, leaving us hibernating from this:

In true snow day fashion, I decided to treat us to a cup of hot cocoa the old fashioned way. When I was little hot chocolate meant Nestle Quik from the microwave and today, hot chocolate just means "no" (too many calories). So I broke out my 60's version of the Joy of Cooking for a recipe.

I didn't use a double boiler, and I even scalded the milk. Such dedication!

Topped with some Cool Whip. Yum. It was really rich & delicious! A perfect treat for a cold, snowy day!

The Perfect Match

Sometimes when I am taking photos for the shop, the most perfect little outfits create themselves. Couldn't have been more perfect if I tried!

All three pieces are available in the shop now!

Thrift Finds: Cat Lady Vest

Well, well, well, would you look at what I thrifted this weekend!

It was calling (meowing) to me!

Yup, you better believe it! A cat vest!

And I totally intend on wearing it in all seriousness. I'm thinking with a black top and black skirt...something very simple, since it is a statement piece in itself.

The statement being: "I am a full fledged cat lady and have lost my mind."

I'd also just like to point out that Darshan was with me and told me I really shouldn't buy it and I will never wear it and I'll look crazy. I will prove him wrong. That I'll wear it...I can't guarantee the crazy part.

What do you think? Do you think this could be pulled off in a chic way or will it (I) just look cray-cray?

New Hair!

I chopped my hair yesterday!

And now I am going to show you via some very Myspace-esque photos. Just me and the mirror, baby!  Here are three photos, two more than you actually need!

The chop was partially inspired by Betty Draper (just finished rewatching all four seasons!) and my beloved Lemon Breeland, which you've all heard about before! I am excited to play around with it and she what it can do!

An Outfit: Holiday Party

Last week, I made a mood board  with items from my shop as inspiration for an upcoming holiday party since I had to work with what I had in either my shop or my closet.

Here's what I ended up wearing to the party on Saturday night.

I kept with the black & magenta pink color themes, wore this dress I bought over the summer and ended up "borrowing" this jacket from the shop.

Vintage Faux Fur Coat, Large, Double Breast Short Pea Coat with Faux Fur Collar, Glam Rocker Chic

(blurrrrr).

It was a good night....any excuse to drink champagne and get gussied up, right?!
